Namma Metro, just four and a half months old, saw its first suicide when a 16-year-old boy threw himself under a train at the MG Road station on Monday evening. S Vishnu Sharan was a first-year student of St Joseph's PU College and a resident of Jayanagar. CCTV footage showed the boy standing on platform No. 1. A train from Byappanahalli culminated its trip at MG Road and then began its return journey at 8.35pm. As the train entered the station, Vishnu threw himself under it. The train ran over Vishnu before grinding to a halt.
Vishnu's body was stuck under the train for over half an hour, before rescue workers could extricate it. Rescue workers told TOI the body had been partially torn.
